The Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak to the Twins by rallying for a 6-5 victory on Friday night at Globe Life Park. The Twins had an overall three-game winning streak come to an end.
The Rangers had also lost seven of nine before pulling ahead with a two-run sixth inning and then getting the bullpen to make it stand. Rangers starter Cole Hamels lasted just 4 1/3 innings but Tony Barnette picked him up. Barnette pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to get the victory before Matt Bush and closer Sam Dyson closed it out. "They are all tough wins and they are all sweet, especially against this team," shortstop Elvis Andrus said. "They have been a tough matchup for us. They play good against us so we're glad to get this win."
Twins starter Kyle Gibson went five innings and left with a 5-4 lead on a three-run home run by Miguel Sano in the top of the fifth. But the Rangers scored two off reliever Ryan Pressly in the bottom of the inning. The Rangers have 26 comeback wins this season and are now 19-7 in one-run games.
"It was a winnable game," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "We kind of beat ourselves the second half of the game. Gibby had to fight. He relied on his offspeed stuff and they were sitting on it from time-to-time. But we made Hamels work."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Double triple pleasure: The Rangers hit two triples in a game for the first time this season. Both were big. Rougned Odor drove in their first run in the first with a triple and scored on a single by Prince Fielder. The Rangers trailed 6-5 going into the bottom of the sixth before Nomar Mazara led off with a double and scored on a triple by Elvis Andrus. Bobby Wilson brought home the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly. Odor missed hitting for the cycle by a home run.
"We just battled, that's the key for us," Andrus said. "Their starter was effective against us. He always throws good against us. We just battled."

Replay review proves critical:Eduardo Nunez, with the Twins trailing 4-2, led off the fifth with a single, then stole second and third. The Rangers challenged the call at third and replays appeared to show Nunez sliding off the base and getting tagged by Adrian Beltre. But the call stood after the review. Hamels then walked Robbie Grossman and gave up a three-run home run to Sano.
Heads up by Andrus: The Rangers were holding a 6-5 lead into the eighth when Kennys Vargas led off with a double against Bush. Danny Santana followed with a hard grounder to Andrus at short. Vargas broke for third and Andrus got the ball quickly to Beltre. Vargas was tagged out in the rundown and then Bush got Kurt Suzuki to hit into an inning-ending double play.
"I was kind of squeezed there as far as Kennys' double as far as options to pinch-run," Molitor said. "If I would've pinch-run Joe [Mauer], I lose his bat, and if I pinch-run [Eduardo] Escobar, I have to replace him with Joe on defense. I was hoping we could find a way to get him in but he got too aggressive on a ball hit too sharply."
Profar slips up:Jurickson Profar's inexperience at first base showed up in the second inning when the Twins had Suzuki on third and two outs. Nunez hit a high chopper over the mound that Hamels fielded going backwards. But Profar also broke for the ball and nobody was covering first. Nunez had a single and Suzuki scored to make it 2-2.

With his RBI double in the second inning, Suzuki became the sixth active catcher with at least 500 career RBIs, joining A.J. Pierzynski, Brian McCann, Yadier Molina, Russell Martin and Miguel Montero.

BUXTON CARTED OFF FIELD
Twins rookie center fielder Byron Buxton injured his right knee in a scary collision with the center-field wall in the first inning while trying to catch an RBI triple from Odor. Buxton tried to walk off the field with the help of manager Paul Molitor and trainer Dave Pruemer but collapsed while trying to walk. He was taken off the field on a cart. Buxton, though, avoided major injury, as he was diagnosed with a bruised knee and is day to day. He'll undergo a precautionary MRI exam on Saturday. More >

Twins: Right-hander Ricky Nolasco pitches for the Twins against the Rangers at 8:05 p.m. CT Saturday at Globe Life Park. Nolasco is trying to snap a personal three-game losing streak.
Rangers:Kyle Lohse makes his return to the big leagues on Saturday to get the start against the Twins. Nick Martinez, who was scheduled to start, was instead optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Lohse, who had a 5.06 ERA with Round Rock, last pitched in the big leagues with the Brewers last season.
