Roundtable keys Civil Rights Game weekend
White Sox EVP Williams to be joined by other prominent figures on Friday
Major League Baseball will kick off its Civil Rights Game weekend in Chicago this week with a Baseball & Civil Rights Movement Roundtable Discussion, featuring White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams and a number of other notable figures.
The goal of the event, which will take place at 12:30 p.m. CT on Friday at the Chicago Cultural Center, is to discuss baseball's role in the civil rights movement, as well as the sport's ongoing influence in American society. It will be streamed on MLB.com and whitesox.com at noon-3 p.m. CT on Saturday.
MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds will serve as the discussion's moderator, and Williams will be joined on the panel by Thomas Tull, producer of the film "42"; Wendy Lewis, MLB's senior vice president of diversity and strategic alliances; Larry Reynolds, founder and CEO of Reynolds Sports Management; and Shari Runner, Chicago Urban League's senior vice president for strategy and community development.
The roundtable discussion will precede the seventh annual Civil Rights Game, which will pit the White Sox against the Rangers and be played at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday at U.S. Cellular Field.
