Royals announce 2013 Spring Training Schedule

KANSAS CITY, MO (December 4, 2012) — The Kansas City Royals have announced their 2013 Spring Training schedule.  The club will open its 11th season in the Cactus League as the visiting team against its Surprise complex mates, the Texas Rangers, on Friday, February 22 at 2:05 p.m. (CT). 

Kansas City's 36-game Spring Training schedule, tied for the largest in franchise history (also 2009), features 18 home games at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz., plus three games in Surprise as the road club against the Texas Rangers.  Home day games from February 23 to March 8 will start at 2:05 p.m. (CT) until Daylight Saving Time on March 10 when the day games will begin at 3:05 p.m. (CT). The Royals will host a pair of evening games at 8:05 p.m. (CT), first on March 25 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, then on March 27 vs. the Chicago Cubs. 

The Surprise Recreation Campus will accept mail orders along with orders for season ticket packages beginning on Monday, December 17.  For these orders, call 623-222-2222 or visit www.royals.com/springtraining to obtain a ticket brochure.  Individual Spring Training game tickets go on sale via an online pre-sale on Monday, December 17 through ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.  The Surprise Recreation Campus Box Office will open at 7 a.m. local time on Saturday, January 5 for walk-up purchases.  A service charge will be applied to tickets purchased online or over the phone.

Once again in 2013, the Kansas City Royals are offering exclusive fan travel experiences, allowing fans to experience Spring Training in Surprise Arizona like never before.  Packages include game tickets, choice of hotel accommodations, car rental and a custom Royals Spring Training merchandise package including a hat, tee shirt, and drawstring backpack.

Pitchers and catchers will report to Surprise on Monday, February 11.  Workouts for pitchers begin the following day, Tuesday, February 12.  The remainder of the squad will report on Thursday, February 14 and begin workouts for the 2013 campaign on Friday, February 15.
