Royals announce 2014 bobblehead giveaways

KANSAS CITY -- Who will be a Royals bobblehead this year?

Guess no longer, the word is out. It's players James Shields, Salvador Perez and Alex Gordon and the retro cartoon figure Mr. Royal. It's a bobblehead bonanza.

The bobblehead will be a Major League first for Perez, an All-Star last year, but he's had a couple of them as promotional items in the Minor Leagues. He remembered one in particular.

"I looked at it and said, 'This bobblehead is more ugly than me,'" he said, laughing.

Surely the first 10,000 folks at the July 12 game against the Tigers will gaze upon a handsome Perez smiling and bobbing at them.

Other promotional highlights announced on Friday by the Royals include a Gold Glove T-shirt honoring winners Gordon, Perez and Eric Hosmer; a Monarchs fedora (that's an old-time hat, kids) for Salute to the Negro Leagues Day; a camouflage jersey, and a ladies cowboy hat.
