The Kansas City Royals and Burlington Royals announced a four-year extension to their Player Development Contract (PDC) on Tuesday, extending the two clubs' partnership through the 2020 season.
"We are proud of our affiliation with the City of Burlington and the Burlington Royals," Kansas City Royals' Assistant General Manager J.J. Picollo said. "Our players have had a great experience while playing in Burlington and we look forward to that continuing in the coming years."
Burlington has been a Kansas City Royals' Rookie-level affiliate since 2007. Through the years Burlington has seen an impressive number of talented players come through on their way to the Major Leagues, including three members from the 2015 World Series Champions' roster. The B-Royals won the Appalachian League Eastern Division title in 2012 and came within one victory of the league championship that year, posting a 41-25 record.
