The Kansas City Royals announced several moves today to set the club's 40-man roster for the offseason reserve list deadline, which occurs at 8 p.m. ET this evening.
Left-handed pitcher Tim Collins has elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Omaha. Additionally, the club has selected the contracts of pitchers Andrew Edwards and Jake Junis from Omaha (AAA) and catcher Cam Gallagher and first baseman Samir Duenez from Northwest Arkansas (AA). To make room on the 40-man roster, the Royals have designated catcher Tony Cruz for assignment.
Earlier in the day, the club announced that it had agreed to terms with catcher Drew Buteraon a two-year contract.
Following today's moves, the Royals have the maximum 40 players on their Major League reserve list.
