Royals to broadcast 40 games in Spanish

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have partnered with KYYS-1250 AM, "La Super Estacion," to broadcast 40 regular-season home games in Spanish.
"Adding Spanish-language radio broadcasts allows us to enhance our outreach to the Latino fan base," Mike Bucek, Royals vice president of marketing and business development, said in a statement. "The partnership with Reyes Media [which owns KYYS] combined with losreales.com and @losreales on Twitter will provide coverage to very passionate Royals fans."

"This is a very important achievement for our organization and its fan base now that fans all over the world will be able to listen to these 40 games," Royals catching coach Pedro Grifol said. "We are very happy and optimistic about our team and we will continue to seek out new opportunities to celebrate with the Hispanic community."
Jose Munoz will serve as the play-by-play announcer for the Spanish game broadcasts. Munoz has 12 seasons of experience calling games in Spanish for the Royals' Triple-A affiliate, the Omaha Storm Chasers. He also is the program director and on-air personality for KMMQ-AM in Omaha, Neb., which is an NRG media station and the sister station of Royals affiliates KOZN-AM and KZOT-AM.
