KANSAS CITY -- Tuesday was the deadline for all arbitration-eligible players to file -- it is just a formality -- and the Royals have seven players in that category, including All-Stars Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas.
Closer Greg Holland also was eligible, but he was non-tendered by the Royals earlier in the offseason. Left-hander Tim Collins was eligible as well, but he signed a one-year deal for $1.475 million. Collins spent 2015 recovering from Tommy John surgery.

The more significant deadline is Friday, when the players and clubs must exchange salary figures.
Hearing dates for arbitration cases will be Feb. 1-21, though all arbitration-eligible Royals have settled prior to their hearing dates since general manager Dayton Moore took over in 2006.
Here are the arbitration-eligible players and their salaries from 2015:
• Cain, second year of arbitration: Made $2.725M last season, avoiding arbitration. Slashed .307/.361/.477 with 34 doubles, 16 homers, 72 RBIs and 28 stolen bases.
• Moustakas, second year of arbitration: Made $2.64M last season, avoiding arbitration. Slashed .284/.348/.470 with 34 doubles, 22 homers and 82 RBIs.
• Left-hander Danny Duffy, second year of arbitration: Made $2.425M last season, avoiding arbitration. In 30 games was 7-8 with a 4.08 ERA.
• Outfielder Jarrod Dyson, second year of arbitration: Made $1.225M last season, avoiding arbitration. Slashed .250/.311/.380 with two homers, 18 RBIs and 26 stolen bases.
• Catcher Drew Butera, fourth year of arbitration: Made $987,500 last season, avoiding arbitration. Slashed .196/.252/.252 with one homer and five RBIs.
• Catcher Tony Cruz, second year of arbitration: Made $775,000 last season, avoiding arbitration. Slashed .204/.235/.310 with two homers and 11 RBIs.
• Right-hander Louis Coleman, second year of arbitration: Made $725,000 last season, avoiding arbitration. In four games, he was 1-0 with 0.00 ERA.
