Royals Charities to visit Fort Leavenworth

As a part of the first-ever Giving Week, Royals Charities will visit members of the military and their families Thursday.

The visit will start at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Leavenworth Army Base. Royals Charities will present a $10,000 check to special events for the following organizations: Survivors of the Fallen, Families of Deployed and Youth Sports Camps. While there, members of the Royals front office staff, Royals alumni, Sluggerrr and KayCee will meet with servicemen and servicewomen and their families. The World Series Champions trophy will also be available for photo opportunities.

The Kansas City Royals Alumni Association will also be making a donation. Royals alumni participating in the visit include Jaime Bluma, Paul McGannon, Les Norman, Kevin Seitzer and John Wathan.

Royals Charities has been traveling throughout the Greater Kansas City area this week presenting grants to various organizations. Royals front office staff and alumni visited Operation Breakthrough on Monday, Hope House on Tuesday and the new Kansas RBI baseball field on Wednesday. On Friday, a Royals contingent will visit the Variety Adaptive Playground site and the Johnson Country Christmas Bureau Family Holiday Shop, both in Olathe, Kan.
