HOUSTON -- It was the type of night that had Royals right-hander Chris Young scratching his head.
Young thought he made some good pitches that the Astros jumped on. He also thought he made a few mistakes, and the Astros didn't miss those.
And when it was over, it was an ugly outing for Young, who have up nine hits and six runs through 4 2/3 innings in the Royals' 8-2 loss.
"I thought they put some good swings on the ball," Young said. "I felt I missed some spots on some.
"But I felt I executed some good pitches that they hit. You just tip your cap. They swung it well, and you give them credit and you get back to work."
Young got hit hard immediately. Jose Altuve ripped Young's first pitch for a single. George Springer hit a hard groundout. Carlos Correa smashed a double. And then Colby Rasmus, who hit three home runs off the Royals in the ALDS last season, crushed a two-run homer into the upper deck in right.

"Chris wasn't exceptionally sharp, but battled through it," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "We were down, 3-0, by the time the fifth hitter came up. But he did a good job settling in the second and third, but then came [more trouble] in the fourth."
After that shaky first, Young said he pondered making some adjustments.
"At that point, if you're executing your pitches and they're still getting hit, you look at the pitch selection," Young said. "But I've looked at the video and I stand by my pitch selection and my preparation.
"Sometimes you run into a team and it's not your night. They've got hitters who can do damage. The Rasmus pitch was a bad pitch, and he punished it. He did what he's supposed to do with it."
Young tried to give the Royals five innings to spare the bullpen, but he gave up three more runs in the fourth and ran out of gas in the fifth.
"I feel bad digging the team into a hole like that," Young said. "But it's a tough lineup."
