Royals prospect Griffin to pitch in Futures Game

DETROIT -- Royals left-hander Foster Griffin, the team's No. 20 prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com, has been selected to pitch for the US Team for the 2017 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.
Griffin, 21, was the No. 28 overall pick in the 2014 Draft. He started this season at Class A Advanced Wilmington, where he posted a 4-2 mark with a 2.86 ERA. After being promoted to Double-A Northwest Arkansas, Griffin has gone 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA.

The Futures Game, which is now in its 19th year, features the top Minor League prospects competing in a nine-inning contest as part of All-Star Sunday. The US Team leads the all-time series, 11-7. Last year in San Diego, the World Team defeated the US, 11-3, snapping a six-game US winning streak.
The 2017 Futures Game takes place on Sunday, July 9, at 3 p.m. CT at Marlins Park in Miami and can be viewed live on MLB Network and MLB.com.
