GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Royals right-hander Ian Kennedy's second outing this spring was an improvement off the first, he said.
Kennedy gave up two hits and one run over three innings. He retired the last five batters he faced in the Royals' 9-2 win over the White Sox on Thursday. He threw 52 pitches, 31 for strikes.
"As the start went on, it went a little better," Kennedy said. "It was a little longer than last time out, so you could make adjustments as you go along. It was good to get the pitch count up."

What adjustments did Kennedy make?
"There was a curveball to Mike Olt and it kind of clicked mechanics-wise," Kennedy said, "so that was good. I used it the next inning and it worked pretty good.
"I wanted to work on my fastball command, which wasn't great last time out. This time, it was down, and even when I missed, I was missing down. So it was all good."
