Royals host Food Drive and other community programs

KANSAS CITY  -- The Kansas City Royals will host the Cleveland Indians (August 18-20) and Colorado Rockies (August 22-24) during a six-game homestand. The Royals will host a food drive (August 19) as a part of a friendly competition with the Cleveland Indians that takes place from August 18 through the 28. Players will also host groups to games through different programs, including Moose Lodge (August 18), Kennedys' Dugout Suite (August 19) and Dream Factory (August 23).  

Friday, August 18 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

Friday, August 18 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Appier Visits Harvesters - Royals Hall of Fame Pitcher Kevin Appier will join Fox Sports Kansas City broadcaster Joel Goldberg and several members of the Royals Front Office to volunteer at Harvesters - The Community Food Network, for the "Step Up to the Plate" food drive. The Royals have partnered with Harvesters and Price Chopper to hold a friendly competition with the Cleveland Indians.   • Moose Lodge - Mike Moustakas, together with the Royals and KCP&L, will host foster care children and their families in the Moose Lodge.  Each child from FosterAdopt Connect will receive complimentary tickets, a "Moose Lodge" t-shirt and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza.  The special guests will also participate in a meet-and-greet with Moustakas before the game.

Saturday, August 19 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 6:15 p.m.

  • Kennedys Host Charity Groups - Pitcher Ian Kennedy and his wife, Allison, host a different community group in a fully-catered Dugout Suite during each Saturday home game. This game, the Kennedys will host USO of Missouri - Fort Leonard Wood. Their guests will watch batting practice from the suite and visit with Kennedy prior to the game. The Kennedys also will give each guest a special Royals gift.
  • Step Up to the Plate - The Royals, Harvesters and Price Chopper are teaming up against the Cleveland Indians and Greater Cleveland Foodbank to fight hunger. Before this game, the Royals will host a food drive where fans can drop off non-perishable food items in bins located at all entry gates and at the Royals Charities Headquarters located on the main concourse beside the Majestic Team Store. Fans may donate money at the Harvesters table in front of the Royals Charities Headquarters two ways: A $5 donation will get them one (1) Royals giveaway item, or a $20 donation will get them one (1) mystery photo autographed by a player who has either played on the 2017 roster or the 2015 World Series roster, while supplies last. The competition will take place from August 18-28, corresponding with the home and away series between the two teams. While Saturday is the official food drive night, fans are able to bring non-perishable food items to the stadium during other games throughout the homestand. Sunday, August 20 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 1:15 p.m.

  • Ban Johnson All-Star MVP Recognition - The Most Valuable Player from the Ban Johnson All-Star Game played in July at The K, Cameron Pope, will be honored on-field during the Royals pregame ceremonies.

Monday, August 21 - Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 1:15 p.m.

  • Great Life Solar Eclipse Charity Golf Classic - GreatLIFE KC will sponsor Kansas City's largest golf event celebrating the Great American Eclipse. Proceeds from the event will benefit Royals Charities and the GreatLIFE Cares Foundation. Royals Hall of Famers Jeff Montgomery and Willie Wilson, along with alumni Jim Eisenreich, Brian McRae and Shawn Sedlacek, are playing at various golf courses as part of the event. The celebration will continue on Tuesday as GreatLIFE KC sponsors Golf Day at The K and a golf visor giveaway.

  • Law Enforcement Night - The Kansas City Royals are teaming up with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund to pay tribute to Law Enforcement throughout the Greater Kansas City area. Fans who purchase the special ticket package for this event will receive a unique commemorative coin that can be picked up after gates open by the spiral ramp just inside of the Gate B. A portion of every ticket package sold includes a donation to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.   • Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.
  • Boys & Girls Club SportsFest - The Royals will join more than 500 guests to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City and the Sports L•A•B™ (Lifestyle, Attitude, Behavior) Program. The 3rd Annual SportsFest event will feature Baseball Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith and will take place at the Arrowhead Stadium North Club prior to the Royals game.

Thursday, August 24 - Colorado Rockies vs. Royals, 1:15 p.m.
