Medlen set for first start Tuesday vs. Astros

Righty was skipped in first turn because of off-days

April 9th, 2016

KANSAS CITY -- Right-hander Kris Medlen, the Royals' projected fifth starter, will get his first start of the season on Tuesday in Houston, manager Ned Yost confirmed before Friday night's 4-3 win.
Because of the team's three off-days the first week, the Royals skipped Medlen the first time through the rotation. Edinson Volquez and Chris Young will make their second starts of the season on Sunday and Monday.
Medlen did throw a simulated game on Thursday.
Orlando to get start
Yost also indicated on Friday that Paulo Orlando, last season's rookie surprise, likely will get his first start of the season in right field on Saturday against Twins left-hander Tommy Milone. Yost has started rookie Reymond Fuentes the first three games in right field.
Dyson to rehab
And, as expected, outfielder Jarrod Dyson (strained oblique) will start his rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.
"I don't know how much time he'll need," Yost said. "But he was swinging the bat pretty well here the last couple days in BP."
