Royals Minor League report: April 22

Omaha Storm Chasers (10-9)

Omaha 5, Nashville 1

Sugar Ray Marimon led Omaha to a matinee win over the Sounds. The righty struck out seven without a walk, holding Nashville to a run on six hits over 6.1 innings. Buddy Baumann (1.2 IP, 1 H) and Spencer Patton (1.0 IP) posted scoreless relief outings. Baumann has not been charged with a run over 11.2 innings while Patton has a 0.93 ERA (1 ER in 9.2 IP). Melky Mesa was 2-for-3 with walk, a double, an RBI and two runs. Carlos Peguero hit a solo homer in the third.

NW Arkansas Naturals (5-13)

Northwest Arkansas 3, Springfield 2
WP: Malcom Culver (2-1)
HR: Lane Adams (1), Mark Threlkeld (3)

Mark Threlkeld hit a walk-off homer with two away in the ninth, lifting the Naturals to their first home win of 2014. Threlkeld recorded two hits, as did Lane Adams, who hit a solo homer in the fourth. Northwest Arkansas pitchers totaled a season-high 15 strikeouts as Tim Melville (5.0 IP), Angel Baez (2.0 IP) and Malcom Culver (2.0 IP) had five apiece. Melville made the start, allowing one run.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (7-11)

The Blue Rocks were off after a seven-game road trip. They open a home set tonight vs. Cleveland's High-A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats.

Lexington Legends (9-10)

Lexington 4, Hickory 3
WP: Matt Tenuta (2-1)
HR: None

Matt Tenuta fired 7.0 shutout innings in Lexington's win at Hickory. A 25th round pick in 2012, Tenuta struck out two while scattering five hits and a walk. The lefty lowered his ERA to 1.09 (3 ER in 24.2 IP). Chad Johnson put Lexington on the board with his first homer of the year. Alfredo Escalera, Fred Ford and Frank Schwindel each added an RBI.
