Omaha Storm Chasers (65-67)

HR: Brett Hayes (12, 13), Gorkys Hernandez (2 with Omaha, 6 overall)

Nick Green's ninth-inning homer off of Will Smith was the difference as Omaha lost to New Orleans. Danny Duffy struck out eight while allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks over 5.0 IP+3. Brett Hayes hit a pair of home runs while driving in three. Hayes and Gorkys Hernandez hit back-to-back homers in the seventh. Pedro Ciriaco added two hits, an RBI and a run.

NW Arkansas Naturals (29-29 2nd half, 54-74 overall)

NW Arkansas 3, Springfield 1

The Naturals plated a pair of runs on an error in the seventh as they moved to 2-0 at Springfield. Lane Adams recorded two hits, a stolen base and a run. Jason Adam held the Cardinals to an unearned run on two hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He's 5-2 over 10 starts since the Texas League All-Star break and 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA in four August starts (3 ER in 25.2 IP).

Wilmington Blue Rocks (23-36 2nd half, 56-73 overall)

Frederick 5, Wilmington 3

HR: Sam Bates (1 with Wilmington, 11 overall)

Wilmington dropped game one at Frederick, the club's eighth straight loss overall. Sam Bates hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth, however, Frederick reeled off four in the home half. The homer was the first in six games with Wilmington for Bates. The former Arkansas Razorback led Burlington in home runs, RBI and runs at the time of his promotion. Leonel Santiago allowed two runs, four hits and two walks over 7.0 innings.

Lexington Legends (33-26 2nd half, 66-61 overall)

Augusta 2, Lexington 1 (12 innings)
LP: John Walter (1-1)
HR: None

Lexington lost a matinee as the Green Jackets plated a run in the 12th. Legends starter Christian Binford held Augusta to a run on six hits over 7.0 innings. Clayton Schulz followed with 3.0 perfect innings. John Walter allowed his first run since joining the Legends (21.2 IP). Lexington struck out 20 times, with Augusta starter Kendry Flores recording 15 over 8.0 innings.

Idaho Falls Chukars (11-9 2nd half, 30-28 overall)

Idaho Falls 10, Billings 1
WP: Luis Santos (2-0 with Idaho Falls, 6-1 overall)
HR: Humberto Arteaga (2)

The Chukars rolled to an opening win at Billings. Luis Santos fanned seven while holding the Mustangs to one hit and one walk over 7.0 innings. Humberto Arteaga hit a leadoff homer and finished 4-for-5 with three RBI. Carlos Garcia added three hits, two RBI and two runs. Cody Stubbs tripled home three runs in the sixth.

Burlington Royals (26-32)

The entire Appalachian League was off on Wednesday. Burlington hosts Johnson City (Cardinals) tonight.

Surprise Royals (9-13 2nd half, 19-31 overall)

Arizona Mariners 5, Surprise 2
LP: Ronny Rios (2-2)
HR: None

The road team won both halves of a home-and-home series. Amalani Fukofuka gave Surprise a 2-0 lead with a single in the third. The Mariners scored five unanswered runs, including the go-ahead tallies in the eighth. Royals starter Harol Rosario fanned eight while holding the M's to one run, four hits and a walk over 5.0 innings.
