Omaha Storm Chasers (67-71)

Omaha rallied with four in the eighth before falling short. Ben Broussard recorded three hits, two RBI and a run. He's batting .303 (54-for-178) with Omaha and .330 in August (29-for-88). Johnny Giavotella added two hits and two RBI, extending his hitting streak to five games (.368, 7-for-19). Chris Dwyer allowed six runs, seven hits and six walks over 5.2 IP. Omaha has a 1.0 game lead in the division race with six to play. Felipe Paulino will make a rehab start tonight.

NW Arkansas Naturals (32-32 2nd half, 57-77 overall)

Northwest Arkansas won the series opener by scoring four runs in the eighth. Whit Merrifield finished 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a walk. Matt Fields walked three times and scored two runs. Sugar Ray Marimon held the Drillers to a run on five hits and five walks over 6.0 innings. The Naturals trail Arkansas by 2.0 games in the second-half race with six games to play. The two teams will battle this weekend in North Little Rock.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (27-38 2nd half, 60-75 overall)

Wilmington scored in the first and held the lead all night in an opening win. Sam Bates doubled twice, scored twice and drove in a run. Jack Lopez was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Angel Baez limited the Pelicans to one hit and four walks over 6.0 shutout innings.

Lexington Legends (35-29 2nd half, 68-64 overall)

Augusta 6, Lexington 2

Lexington lost the series opener, putting Augusta within striking distance of a second-half division title. The Green Jackets have a 5.5 game lead over Lexington with six games to play. Daniel Stumpf allowed four runs, six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. Cam Gallagher was 2-for-3 with a run. Terrance Gore added a double and a run.

Idaho Falls Chukars (15-11 2nd half, 34-30 overall)

Idaho Falls won a second straight to earn a 2-2 series split. Dominique Taylor hit a two-run homer in the second and finished with four runs scored. Daniel Rockett had three hits, including his team-leading 10th homer. Cody Stubbs added three hits, a walk and an RBI. Luis Santos scattered three runs (two earned), five hits, and three walks over 5.1 innings.

Burlington Royals (27-37)

Bristol 8, Burlington 2

HR: None

Burlington was swept in a three-game set at Bristol. Starter Zach Lovvorn yielded three runs, six hits and five walks over 5.0 innings. Alex Newman drove home both Burlington runs in the ninth. Alfredo Escalera added a pair of doubles. The Royals will complete the season with three games at Johnson City (Cardinals).

Surprise Royals (12-14 2nd half, 22-32 overall)

Surprise 10, Arizona Padres 1

Surprise rolled to a win at Peoria. Lee's Summit North grad Brandon Dulin was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run. Riley King added two hits, two RBI and three runs. Tim Melville made a rehab start, tossing a scoreless first inning. Harol Rosario (4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER) picked up the win.
