Royals Minor League report: July 24

Omaha Storm Chasers (62-42)

Omaha 5, New Orleans 4

WP: Jake Odorizzi (7-1 with Omaha, 11-3 overall)

Omaha opened with a win at New Orleans. Johnny Giavotella knotted the game at 2-2 with a two-run single in the third. He finished with two hits and three RBI. Max Ramirez put Omaha ahead to stay with a solo shot in the fourth. Jake Odorizzi (5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) moved to 7-1 with Omaha and 11-3 overall. Roman Colon pitched the final 3.0 innings for his seventh save. Former Royal Donnie Murphy homered off both Odorizzi and Colon.

NW Arkansas Naturals (6-25 in second half, 43-58 overall)

LP: Mike Montgomery (1-2 with NW Arkansas, 4-8 overall)
HR: None

The Naturals lost the opener vs. Tulsa, their fifth straight defeat and 12th in 13 games. Mike Montgomery allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. Yem Prades went 2-for-4 with a run for the Naturals. Kevin Kouzmanoff and Rey Navarro each drove in a run.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (16-16 in second half, 45-57 overall)

Wilmington 4, Frederick 2
WP: Jason Adam (3-10)
SV: Robinson Yambati (1)
HR: None

Wilmington evened a four-game set at 1-1. Jason Adam scattered two runs on four hits and three walks over 6.0 stanzas. Robinson Yambati earned the save as he held the Keys scoreless on three hits over 3.0 innings. Brett Eibner scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the sixth. The Blue Rocks added an insurance run as Juan Graterol scored on Geulin Beltre's single. Graterol went 3-for-4 on the night.

Kane County Cougars (16-14 in second half, 50-50 overall)

The entire Midwest League was off on Tuesday. Kane County hosts Wisconsin on Wednesday.

Idaho Falls Chukars (16-19)

Great Falls 7, Idaho Falls 2
LP: Ali Williams (2-3)
HR: None

Idaho Falls dropped to 1-1 in a three-game set in Montana. Great Falls broke open a 2-2 game with four in the fifth. Ali Williams was charged with six runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. The Chukars were unable to capitalize on five errors by the Voyagers as they compiled five hits.

Burlington Royals (22-8)

Burlington 4, Greeneville 3 (10 innings)
WP: Daniel Stumpf (2-1)
HR: Fred Ford (9)

Bubba Starling raced home on a wild pitch in the 10th as Burlington won an eighth straight. Fred Ford's solo shot put Burlington on top in the second. He is tied for the league lead in homers with teammate Patrick Leonard. Starling finished with three hits and an RBI. The Royals, who lead the East Division by 5.0 games, are off on Wednesday.

Surprise Royals (11-15)

AZL Padres 9, Surprise 7
LP: Scott Alexander (0-1)
HR: None

Surprise dropped a morning game as the Padres plated three in the first and never trailed. Christian Colon continued his rehab assignment, going 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Pedro Gonzalez and Chad Johnson drove in two runs each.
