Omaha dropped to 1-1 in the series as a trio of Memphis hurlers tossed three scoreless innings apiece. The Redbirds hit three homers, accounting for all four runs. Sugar Ray Marimon held Memphis to two runs, five hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings. He allowed solo homers in the fourth and seventh. Christian Colon and Paulo Orlando had two hits apiece for Omaha. Colon, ranked 15th among Royals prospects by MLB.com, has hit safely in eight straight games at a .405 clip (15-for-37).

The Naturals dropped the opener of a four-game home-and-home series. Andy Ferguson struck out a season-best eight batters without issuing a walk, scattering three runs and seven hits over seven innings. Northwest Arkansas fell to 0-3 on the year against top Colorado prospect Jon Gray, who has allowed just one run over 17 innings vs. the Naturals. Jorge Bonifacio recorded his league-leading 29th RBI on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. He is ranked third among Royals prospects by MLB.com.

Wilmington split a pair of seven-inning games at Lynchburg. The Blue Rocks broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run fifth in game one. Royals No. 2 prospect Raul Mondesi doubled home the go-ahead run and scored on a two-run single by No. 7 prospect Bubba Starling. Mondesi recorded two doubles and two runs while Starling posted a pair of singles. Fourth-ranked prospect Sean Manaea struck out six over four innings, limiting Lynchburg to a run on six hits and two walks. Glenn Sparkman worked three scoreless innings for the win. Starling added a single and a run in Game 2, extending his hitting streak to five games (.333, 6-for-18). Daniel Stumpf fanned five and allowed three runs over five innings.

Lexington Legends (18-23)

Lexington dropped the rubber game at Asheville. The Legends collected 10 hits, but were held scoreless until Dominique Taylor hit a solo homer in the ninth. Frank Schwindel and Ramon Torres recorded two hits apiece. Starter Matt Tenuta allowed seven runs and 11 hits while striking out three over four innings.
