Omaha lost despite recording 14 hits to Colorado Springs' five. The Storm Chasers were 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position. Whit Merrifield extended his hitting streak to a career-best 16 games, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Merrifield's RBI followed a solo homer by Lane Adams in the second.

Matt Murray (five innings, four hits, one earned run, one walk, three strikeouts) earned the win with Mark Peterson (2 1/3 innings) and Daniel Stumpf (1 2/3 innings) recording scoreless outings.

Wilmington dropped to 1-1 vs. Winston-Salem. Cody Reed pitched well in defeat, fanning seven while allowing a run, four hits and two walks over six innings. KC's second-round pick in 2013 has a 2.01 ERA (five earned runs in 22 1/3 innings). Mauricio Ramos had three hits, boosting his average to .314. He's batting .368 over his last 10 games (14-for-38).
