Royals stay motivated with feats of strength

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- For the second straight Spring Training, the Royals brought in motivational speaker Donnie Moore and his team to literally break up the monotony of camp.
Moore and his team demonstrated what willpower and technique can do by smashing through layers of concrete blocks with their bare hands or by ripping license plates and phone books in half.
Even Royals manager Ned Yost got involved, albeit with a price. Yost smashed through four layers of concrete bricks with his two fists. He was sporting several bloody gashes on the back of both hands afterward.
"The bricks kind of caved in on [my hands]," Yost said. "You got to power down through it, that's for sure."
While Royals players observed all of the fun, Yost wasn't about to let any of them get directly involved.
"I told Donnie, 'I can handle all the feats of strength,'" Yost said. "It was fun. Donnie Moore is a great speaker. He's been with us a couple of years. He actually did one for us before Game 5 of the 2014 World Series. Then he did something last spring and again this spring.
"We love having him here."
