SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez combined for nine RBIs as the Royals overcame a rough start from right-hander Yordano Ventura to defeat the Giants, 16-10, on Tuesday night at Surprise Stadium.
Ventura got knocked around for 11 hits and 10 runs over four innings facing a lineup of mostly Minor Leaguers. Ventura, the Royals' No. 3 starter, walked none and struck out four. He is scheduled to make one more spring start on Saturday.
Ventura, who had been battling the flu, said he felt ready for the regular season.
"The thing that came out of this is that I feel healthy and I was able to get through four innings," he said through an interpreter.
Right fielder Austin Slater, the Giants' No. 21 prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com, had a three-run homer. Designated hitter Ricky Oropesa had a solo shot and a bases-clearing double.
The Giants' No. 1 prospect, shortstop Christian Arroyo, slugged a two-run shot.
The Royals put up eight runs in the third inning to take a 9-8 lead, fueled by Moustakas' three-run homer. Moustakas also had a two-run double in the fifth.
In the fourth, Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales hit a towering blast to right-center that cleared the stadium.
The Giants' No. 12 prospect, right-hander Clayton Blackburn, went 2 2/3 innings, giving up five hits and six runs. He walked four and struck out two.
