Chance to meet champs part of Winter Meetings auction

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Royals fans have a chance for a special Spring Training meet and greet with general manager Dayton Moore, manager Ned Yost and Royals players, and an ultimate broadcast experience -- both are part of the Winter Meetings charity auction that runs through Thursday at 8 p.m. CT.

For the fourth straight year, MLB, MLB Advanced Media, MLB Network and all 30 teams have organized the charity auction that helps to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The initiative has raised nearly $500,000 since its inception.

A significant portion of the proceeds will go to Stand Up To Cancer, a longtime partner of MLB, its founding donor in 2008.

This year's auction also will benefit Do It For Durrett, in honor of the late Rangers beat writer Richard Durrett, who passed away suddenly last year, and the YouCaring page established for Marlins Sun Sentinel beat writer Juan C. Rodriguez, who presently is battling a brain tumor.

The auction is live on
