KC prospect Cuthbert homers twice in Double-A game

Playing his first game in a week, third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert hit two home runs Wednesday and Double-A Northwest Arkansas defeated Springfield, 6-4. It was the first multihomer game of Cuthbert's career.

Cuthbert, who is ranked as the Royals' No. 20 prospect, hadn't played since April 23, when he injured his left hand and had to leave the game during his eighth-inning at-bat.

The time off didn't seem to leave Cuthbert worse for wear. He went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs Wednesday.

Cuthbert is hitting .268 with three home runs in 20 games this season. He has drawn 14 walks and struck out 13 times.
