Dozier belts first homer in Wilmington's loss

Third baseman Hunter Dozier, the Royals' No. 7 prospect, according to MLB.com, hit his first home run of the season in Class A Advanced Wilmington's 6-3 loss at Carolina on Thursday.

Dozier went 3-for-4 and drove in all three of the Blue Rocks' runs.

The Royals selected Dozier eighth overall in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft and he performed well in his first professional season -- hitting .308 with seven home runs at two levels in 2013. After scuffling at the start of this season, Dozier seems to have found his groove again at the plate. He has raised his batting average more than 100 points in his last 10 games and is hitting .259 with a .701 OPS.

Despite being the youngest player in the Carolina League, shortstop Raul Mondesi has not shared his teammate's struggles at the plate. The Royals' No. 3 prospect went 1-for-4 and scored a run on Thursday. He is hitting .301.
