KANSAS CITY -- On Wednesday, the Arizona Fall league rosters were announced. Eight Royals will be playing for the Surprise Saguaros, including highly regarded prospects Josh Staumont and Ryan O'Hearn.
Staumont, a right-hander who pitched most recently with Double-A Northwest Arkansas, posted a 3.29 ERA in 38 1/3 innings. He is ranked as the Royals' No. 11 prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com, which praises his velocity as "routinely reaching triple digits with a relatively easy delivery."
Like Staumont, O'Hearn most recently played for Northwest Arkansas, but really showcased his pop earlier in the season with Class A Advanced Wilmington. The eighth-ranked prospect slashed .352/.408/.670 with Wilmington this season, notching 14 extra-base hits in 22 games.
Rounding out the roster for the Royals will be infielders Corey Toups and Mauricio Ramos, outfielder Alfredo Escalera, left-hander Eric Stout and right-handers Jake Newberry and Evan Beal.
