The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has recalled catcher Tony Cruz from Omaha (AAA). Cruz, 29, will be in uniform for this afternoon's game against the Chicago White Sox. To make room on the 25-man roster, the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Peter Moylan to Omaha.
Cruz was acquired by the Royals from St. Louis on December 2, 2015, after spending the first five years of his big league career with the Cardinals. He was hitting .278 (30-for-108) with six doubles, three homers and 20 RBI in 31 games with the Storm Chasers this season.
