SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The talk of Royals camp on Tuesday was all about something that surfaced across the country in Mets camp in Florida.
A Newsday report, citing industry sources, said that the Royals were planning some retribution for the World Series Game 3 incident in which Mets starter Noah Syndergaard threw a pitch near Royals leadoff hitter Alcides Escobar's head.
The incident stirred up harsh words at the time, but Royals players and officials insisted Tuesday the team moved on quickly after winning it all.

The Mets and Royals open the season Sunday night with a two-game series in Kansas City, with the second game on Tuesday to feature Syndergaard on the hill for the Mets.
"It's a new year," Royals left fielder Alex Gordon said. "We've moved on. No reason to talk about it because we're not thinking about it.
"Our retaliation was winning the World Series. After that, we moved on."
Former Mets pitcher Dillon Gee, now poised to make the Royals' bullpen, said the story surprised him ... sort of.
"I don't know where that all came from," Gee said. "I've been here all spring and I don't think anyone has even brought up the Mets. But coming from the New York media, it doesn't surprise me."
Royals manager Ned Yost simply shook his head when he heard about the story.
"We haven't even thought about [retribution]," Yost said. "Our retribution was winning the World Series. Some buffoon writes something and you guys are going to jump like little monkeys in a cage for a peanut."
Royals Opening Day starter Edinson Volquez was home attending to his father's funeral during the Game 3 incident.
"I wasn't even there," Volquez said with a laugh. "But it's too early to think about that. I've got nothing against them. It's the first game. Too early to get in trouble."
But Volquez did offer this, just in case any Mets players were thinking about stirring anything up Sunday: "You mess with one of us guys here, you're going to find a lot of people to take care of [you]."
