O'Hearn impresses with two homers, six RBIs

Royals' No. 8 hits pair of three-run shots in first two at-bats

Ryan O'Hearn made his presence felt early in Double-A Northwest Arkansas' 11-6 win over Corpus Christi on Wednesday.
The Royals' No. 8 prospect went deep in each of his first two at-bats in a 3-for-4, six-RBI night.
"When you're working on something and things start to click and you have a good night at the plate, it's good," O'Hearn told MiLB.com. "It feels like you're getting somewhere, making progress. I'm just trying to slow it down and be on time for the fastball, and anytime I see a mistake pitch, not try to pull it or get too big, stay inside and hit it to the middle of the field."

After hitting a career-high 27 homers a season ago, O'Hearn is having another strong campaign in the power department. With his second multi-homer game of the year, the 23-year-old has now gone deep 20 times across two levels -- including a trio of blasts over his past two games.
O'Hearn gave his club an early lead, belting a three-run homer to right on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the first inning. In the second, he expanded that lead with another three-run homer, this time to left-center.

The first baseman concluded his sixth three-hit game of the season with a single leading off the sixth.
"I was stoked because that's what's supposed to happen," O'Hearn said. "When you struggle for a couple weeks and then start to heat up, that's a good feeling. I'm not going to think about it for too long and I'll go in tomorrow with the same approach."
