KANSAS CITY -- The Royals' scouting department will have plenty to look forward to come June 4 when the MLB Draft begins.
This week, the club learned it will have baseball's biggest bonus pool at $12,781,900.
The Royals received two late-round picks as compensation for the losses of free agents Eric Hosmer and Lorenzo Cain. In fact, they will have four of the Top 40 picks in the Draft, and five of the Top 58.

The Royals also should be active in the international signing period as well, which starts on July 2. The club no longer will be in the penalty phase for exceeding past bonus pool spending and will have an international bonus pool of $5,405,500 at its disposal.
