Rusney makes pair of dazzling diving grabs

MINNEAPOLIS -- Rusney Castillo's re-entry to the Red Sox had been pretty uneventful until the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday night, when the right fielder made a highlight-reel grab.

Playing fairly shallow against Minnesota's Kurt Suzuki, Castillo raced to the gap in right-center to make a sensational diving catch. The ball looked almost as if it was behind Castillo when he reached back and hauled it in. It was the play of the night for Boston in a 2-1 loss to the Twins.

Castillo tumbled over and hung on to the ball, taking at least two bases away from Suzuki.

In the eighth, Castillo robbed Suzuki again, this time on a sinking liner.

"I was really happy to make a good play, actually two good plays, to keep the game close in what could have been big situations," said Castillo.

Though he has been a center fielder most of his career, Castillo seems to be acclimating quickly to right field.

"I'm starting to feel really good out there. I feel like I'm adapting well and feel more comfortable the more games I play," said Castillo.

Is there a big difference between the two positions?

"To me it's been all the same. There hasn't been much of a transition. In center field, I've always felt a little more comfortable just because it's a little more true," said Castillo. "You also feel like you have more room, which is a little different. It's not that different in our park because in our park, you kind of feel like you're playing center field with all the room you have. I feel pretty comfortable out there. I don't see it as all that different."

Since being recalled from Triple-A on May 22, Castillo is hitting .200, producing three singles in 15 at-bats.

"I'm feeling better and better every day. I haven't had the results I want yet, but I'm feeling better and seeing the ball well," he said.
