Ryan Braun named To National League All-Star Team

National League All-Star manager Bruce Bochy of the San Francisco Giants announced today, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, that Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun will replace outfielder Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals on the NL's active roster for the 86th All-Star Game. In addition, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson will replace the fan-elected Holliday in the starting lineup as a result of his standing on the NL Player Ballot.

Holliday, who is hitting .303 on the season with three home runs, 26 RBI, 10 doubles and 20 runs scored, was elected an All-Star for the seventh time in his career and was due to make his first fan-elected start in the Midsummer Classic. Matt will be inactive in the All-Star Game, but is invited to Cincinnati with full All-Star honors. Braun, 31, becomes an All-Star for the sixth time in his career (also 2008-12). Braun entered play today batting .272 on the season with 15 home runs, 55 RBI, 17 doubles, two triples, 50 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. He joins his Brewers teammate Francisco Rodriguez on the NL's roster.

The 2015 All-Star Game will be played at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday, July 14th.
