Zim's success paying off at ballot box

LOS ANGELES -- The Nationals' now leads all National League first basemen in the latest Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot update. Nats outfielder and second baseman are still leading their positions, and they are first and second, respectively, in total votes among all NL players.
Zimmerman has surged ahead of the Cubs' . Zimmerman, who trailed Rizzo by nearly 94,000 votes last week, has a total of 670,671 votes, while Rizzo has accumulated 657,702 votes. Zimmerman is seeking his first starting assignment in an All-Star Game and his second career All-Star selection (2009).

The 2017 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be played July 11 in Miami.
Entering play Monday, Zimmerman led the Majors with a .374 batting average and had 16 home runs and 48 RBIs.
Harper and Murphy were the only NL players to have surpassed 1 million votes. Harper has received 1,459,235 votes and Murphy continues to rank second overall in the NL with 1,149,130 votes. Murphy is trailed at second base by of the Cubs (715,928).
The remaining NL leaders include Giants catcher (917,359); Cubs third baseman (895,752); Dodgers shortstop (604,783); and outfielders Charlie Blackmon of the Rockies (979,961) and of the Cubs (498,079).
The Nationals' is fourth in votes among third basemen (295,369); is fifth among shortstops (323,751); Matt Wieters is fourth among catchers (300,980); and is 12th among outfielders (236,367).
Fans may cast votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 29, at 11:59 p.m. ET. On smartphones and tablets, fans can also access the ballot via the MLB.com At Bat and MLB.com Ballpark mobile apps. Vote up to five times in any 24-hour period for a maximum of 35 ballots cast.
Following the announcement of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
