Safeco Field Open House April 1

Free admission, free parking, fans can check out what's new at Safeco Field Single-game tickets for 2013 season now on sale

Seattle Mariners fans can get a first look at Safeco Field's new HD video screen, outfield dimensions and Edgar's Cantina, a new open-air restaurant behind the left field wall, during a free Open House on Monday, April 1. The first game of the 2013 season, with the Mariners in Oakland to take on the Athletics, will be shown live on the high-definition video screen.

  • Free admission and free parking in the Safeco Field and Century Link garages.
  • Ballpark gates open at 6pm. First pitch in Oakland 7:07pm.
  • Concession stands on Main Concourse and The 'Pen offering $5 pizza, hot dogs and beer.
  • Special appearances by Edgar Martinez and Chef Ethan Stowell (who consulted on new menu items for Edgar's Cantina).

With Felix Hernandez currently scheduled to take the mound in Oakland as the Mariners starting pitcher, all fans through the gates will get a King's Court "K" Card. Fans can pre-register at www.mariners.com/openhouse to receive a free "True to the Blue" T-shirt, this year's Mariners slogan. Those who have registered in advance can claim their T-shirts at Section 138 on the Main Concourse. Fans do not have to preregister to attend the Open House.

During the Open House, the warning track will be open so that fans can go onto field level and check out the new outfield walls, which are anywhere from four-feet to 17-feet closer to home plate from left field to right-center field.

The new HD video screen above the center field bleachers measures 56.7' x 201.5', covers 11,000 square feet and will have screen resolution superior to broadcast HD signals. It replaces the ballpark's original analog video screen and incandescent light matrix board.

Edgar's Cantina and Home Run Porch lounge, both named for Mariners Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez, are located in left field. They feature a "Northwest Mex" menu created by noted Seattle chef and restaurateur Ethan Stowell.
