Righty Hancock gets win in debut with Triple-A El Paso

Jankowski, Dickerson, Gomez pace Chihuahuas offense

Right-hander Justin Hancock allowed one run on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings on Saturday night in his first start with Triple-A El Paso to lead the Chihuahuas to a 7-1 win at Nashville.

Hancock was promoted from Double-A San Antonio, where he was 7-6 with a 3.59 earned run average in 22 starts, earlier on Saturday. The 6-foot-4 Hancock, a ninth-round pick in the 2011 Draft, issued three walks and struck out three while winning his Pacific Coast League debut.

Left-hander Chris Rearick (5.23 ERA) followed Hancock and allowed a hit over 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Right-hander Jerry Sullivan (3.67 ERA) allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth.

Center fielder Travis Jankowski (.414) was 2-for-3 with two walks, two steals, an RBI and two runs scored for El Paso, which won a third straight game to improve to 63-57 and pull to within 2 1/2 games of PCL Pacific Southern division leader Las Vegas.

Second baseman Hector Gomez (.375) had two doubles in four at-bats with an RBI and two runs scored. Left fielder Alex Dickerson (.307) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Catcher Rocky Gale (.302) was 1-for-5 with two RBIs.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (53-66): Missions 10, ARKANSAS 7 (11 innings)

Right fielder Hunter Renfroe's (.262) third hit in six at-bats was a three-run double in the 11th. Infielder Casey McElroy (.259) was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and tied the game with a three-run homer in the ninth. Infielder Benji Gonzalez (.216) was 2-for-4 with a home run, two walks and two runs scored. Left fielder Yeison Asencio (.305) was 2-for-5 with a run scored, while catcher Adolfo Reina (.183) was 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored. Righty Dennis O'Grady (5.88 ERA) started and allowed five runs on six hits and five walks with three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings. Right-hander Bryce Morrow (5.68) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with a strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Righty Cody Hebner (1.80 ERA) allowed a walk and recorded a strikeout in two otherwise perfect innings. Righty Stephen Kohlscheen (5-2, 2.58 ERA) issued a walk in an otherwise spotless inning. Lefty Eury De La Rosa (1.84 ERA) allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to get his fourth save.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (43-75): RANCHO CUCAMONGA 9, Storm 4

Third baseman Gabriel Quintana (.237) was 3-for-4 with his 11th homer, while second baseman Felipe Bravo (.247) was 2-for-4 with his second homer. Center fielder Auston Bousfield (.278) was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Southpaw Chris Wieck (1-5, 6.18 ERA) started and allowed nine runs on nine hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. Righty Bryan Verbitsky (2.78 ERA) allowed a hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Lefty Kyle Bartsch (4.37 ERA) allowed three hits and fanned one in two scoreless innings.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (63-53): TIN CAPS 3, Cedar Rapids 1

Fort Wayne scored its seventh straight win and its 12th straight at home to improve to 14-2 over the last 16 games. Righty Chris Huffman (7-6, 3.18 ERA) started and allowed one run on eight hits and a walk, while recording six strikeouts, over six innings. Righty Aaron Cressley (5.56 ERA) allowed two hits and struck out one in a scoreless inning. Righty Colby Blueberg (0.72 ERA) allowed a hit and fanned one in two scoreless innings for his 16th save. First baseman Trae Santos (.255) was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer (his 10th) and a walk, while second baseman Josh VanMeter (.250) was 2-for-4.

SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A TRI-CITY (31-24): DUST DEVILS 11, Boise 4

Second baseman Kodie Tidwell (.259) was 3-for-5 with two steals and two runs scored, while center fielder Justin Pacchioli (.253) was 2-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored. First baseman Ty France (.305) was 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Left fielder Luis Urias (.297) was 1-for-1 with three walks, two RBIs and two runs scored. Right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez started and allowed four runs on six hits and a walk and struck out four in four innings in his first start since being promoted from the Dominican Republic. Righty Elvin Liriano (4-1, 1.95 ERA) issued one walk and fanned five in two otherwise perfect innings. Righty Luis Hernandez (5.32 ERA) allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout in two scoreless innings.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (19-25): Padres 6, MARINERS 1 (15 innings)

Righty Jacob Nix (6.14 ERA), 19, the Padres' third-round pick in June, started and allowed four hits and struck out six over five scoreless innings. Righty Trey Wingenter (1.93 ERA) allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk in two innings. Left-hander Will Headean (3.27 ERA) struck out five in three perfect innings, while righty Blake Rogers (1-1, 2.89 ERA) allowed a hit and racked up five strikeouts in three scoreless innings. Righty Eliot Ashbeck (3.97 ERA) gave up two hits and recorded a strikeout in a scoreless 15th. Second baseman Tyler Moore (.216) was 2-for-7 with a triple, a steal, an RBI and a run scored. Right fielder Alan Garcia (.294) was 3-for-7, while catcher Wilfri De La Cruz (.216) was 1-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored. Left fielder Aldemar Burgos (.231) was 1-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored.
