Saturday's Cardinals-Cubs Game Start Time Moved to 3:15 PM

Widespread Thunderstorms Forecasted for Saturday Evening Prompt Time Change in Important Game With Postseason Implications

ST. LOUIS, MO., September 27, 2013 -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced that the starting time for Saturday's game with the Chicago Cubs has been moved from 6:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. CT due to the threat of inclement weather Saturday evening.

The latest weather forecast for Saturday calls for widespread rain and thunderstorms to move into the St. Louis metropolitan area by early evening and increasing in intensity during the night.

Given the potential postseason implications and importance of this game during the final weekend of the season, the teams have opted to move the game time to minimize the potential for any delay or need to reschedule. Recognizing the inconvenience that the time change may cause, all fans who purchased a ticket for the Saturday game will be mailed a voucher good for a complimentary ticket to a game during the 2014 season, regardless of whether they attend Saturday's game.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our fans, but believe this is the best alternative given what we know now," said Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III. "We hope that by making this announcement tonight that we give our fans enough notice to adjust their schedules to attend this important game."

The Down-Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis Walk in the Park and pregame parade will begin at 1:15 p.m. Further details regarding the DSA-GSL pregame pep rally will be communicated directly by the association.

Busch Stadium gates will open tomorrow at 1:15 p.m.
