Saunders returns as Rangers option Poreda

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Rangers have optioned pitcher Aaron Poreda to Triple-A Round Rock to make room for Joe Saunders, who was activated off the disabled list to start against the Twins on Wednesday.

The Rangers have made no move with pitcher Yu Darvish, who was scratched from Tuesday's game with stiffness in his neck. Darvish continues to get treatment and went through a workout on Wednesday. His next scheduled start is Sunday against the Nationals.

The Rangers also claimed right-hander pitcher Phil Irwin off waivers from Pittsburgh and optioned him to Round Rock. He made one start for the Pirates this year.
