CINCINNATI -- Johnny Cueto once called Great American Ball Park home as the Reds ace, but even he could not salvage the series for the Giants. Behind a four-hit shutout from Scott Feldman and their lineup's two home runs off Cueto, the Reds completed a three-game series sweep with a 4-0 victory over San Francisco.
Feldman notched his third career shutout as he gave up four hits and one walk with five strikeouts. The Giants did not take advantage of having the leadoff batter reach five times and were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
"He was good," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Feldman, "but to be honest, it's hard to say how good, because we really struggled here with the bats."

Cincinnati, which has a season-high five-game winning streak, scored a pair of unearned runs in the first inning after shortstop Christian Arroyo's fielding error, on RBI singles from Eugenio Suarez and Scooter Gennett. With two outs in the third inning, Scott Schebler lifted a 1-0 pitch to right field for his ninth homer of the season and a 3-0 lead. There was one out in the fifth when Zack Cozart made it a four-run game with a solo homer to left field.

Cueto completed seven innings with four runs (two earned), six hits, one walk and 10 strikeouts. It was no match for Feldman's effort. In the three-game sweep, the Reds outscored the Giants by a 31-5 margin. San Francisco came in 5-1 this season in games that Cueto started.
"This year, I feel like there's this energy about us that if we play like we can, we're going to win," said Cozart, who is batting .351 in 27 games this season. "It kind of reminds me of 2012 and '13. We're not that far yet obviously into the season. But there's that same energy where you just show up and expect to win. It's been a couple of years since we've had that energy."
Meanwhile, the Giants, who own a National League-worst 11-21 record, are searching for any sort of energy.
"These things are hard to explain," Bochy said. "I wish I had a magic button. We better figure it out here soon."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Reds strike early: With Billy Hamilton on first base, Joey Votto on second base and one out, Suarez drove in the game's first run with a single to right field. Suarez, who is batting .330 this season, batted .462 (6-for-13) in the series with six RBIs.

Schebler goes deep again: On a 1-0 fastball from Cueto, Schebler connected for his home run to right field. According to Statcast™, the ball left the bat at 103 mph and traveled 420 feet. Schebler has six homers and 13 RBIs over his last 12 games while batting .370 (17-for-46).

"Today, the add-on home runs by Schebler and Cozart were really big in a close game like that," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "It was another reason I was so much more comfortable having Feldman out there late."
QUOTABLE
"It was a good series for us. We've been on the other ends of those, unfortunately, a lot in the last few years. Everything really in this homestand, with the exception of that 12-3 game against the Pirates, has really gone our way, in large part because those guys are creating those opportunities. We're getting on base at a higher level, pitchers are throwing strikes, we're showing some power, we're aggressive on the bases. For 14th time in his career and fourth time with the Giants, Cueto recorded double-digit strikeouts. He has struck out at least 10 batters eight times in his career at Great American Ball Park, which is the most by any pitcher.

REPLAY REVIEW
Leading off the top of the sixth inning for the Giants, Joe Panik bunted for a single near the mound and narrowly beat the throw to first base from Feldman. The Reds challenged umpire Carlos Torres' call but upon review, replay officials determined that the call stands because it wasn't definitive that the ball beat the runner to the bag.

Giants: San Francisco hits the final stop of its three-city, nine-game trip by visiting New York, where manager Bruce Bochy's club lost two of three regular-season games a year ago before Madison Bumgarner shut out the Mets in the NL Wild Card Game. Left-hander Matt Moore, the Giants' scheduled starter for Monday's 4:10 p.m. PT series opener, will make his first career appearance at Citi Field.
Reds:Rookie Davis will get the ball when the Reds host the Yankees on Monday at 7:10 p.m. ET in the opener of a two-game series. Despite loading the bases twice in his last start, Davis is coming off of his first big league win, a five-scoreless-inning performance for a 7-2 victory.
