Scioscia wins challenge on foul ball call

SEATTLE -- Angels manager Mike Scioscia challenged a call that was overturned on an initial Justin Smoak double Wednesday, making him 8-for-15 in challenges this season.

Leading off the fourth inning with a 2-0 Mariners lead, Smoak skied a C.J. Wilson offering to deep right field and wound up on second base after first-base umpire Dan Iassogna called it fair. Replays, however, showed the ball landed to the right of the chalk, and umpires acknowledged as much after confirming with replay.

Smoak, who entered Wednesday with a .375 batting average against the Angels this season, eventually struck out.
