Mariners prospect Gohara earns first victory

Luiz Gohara, a 16-year-old Mariners prospect, notched his first professional win on Monday, allowing just three hits and striking out nine in five innings to help Rookie-level Pulaski earn a 4-2 win over Princeton.

Gohara, the Mariners' No. 14 prospect according to MLB.com, had command of his fastball and was able to mix speeds with his slider.

Originally from Tupa, Brazil, Gohara signed with the Mariners in August 2012.

The 6-foot-3 left-hander gave up a single in the first inning and then retired 11 in a row before working around two singles in the fifth inning.
