Seattle Mariners salute Latin American beisbol

Saturday, September 7th as Mariners meet the Tampa Bay Rays

The Seattle Mariners pay tribute to the contributions Latin Americans have made to the game of baseball on Saturday, September 7, when the Mariners take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Game time is 6:10pm.

The Mariners will wear home white jerseys with the name "Marineros" across the front. The game-worn jerseys will be available at the Mariners.com auction page after the game.

Dave Valle, former Mariners catcher, and founder of Esperanza International, a non-profit that works in Latin America to lift children and families out of poverty, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The evening's festivities also include performances by Banda Vagos, playing brass-based traditional Mexican music, and the singing of the National Anthem by Tess Altiveros, a talented soprano from Seattle who has performed extensively with Puget Sound opera companies and symphonies.

The starting lineups and batters will be announced in both English, by Safeco Field public address announcer Tom Hutyler, and in Spanish, by Carlos Moreno, an executive and announcer for Adelante Media Group, which operates Spanish language radio stations in Seattle.

Saturday is also the first Kids Eat Free Weekend special day at Safeco Field. All kids 14-and-younger in attendance will receive a voucher for a free hot dog and Pepsi brand soft drink redeemable during the game at any Rolling Roof concession stand at Safeco Field.

Tickets for all remaining games on the Seattle Mariners home schedule are available at mariners.com/tickets. They can also be purchased with no service charge at the Safeco Field box office and Seattle Mariners Team Stores (4th & Stewart in downtown Seattle, Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall, Alderwood Mall). Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster Ticket Centers and by calling 1-888-SEA-HITS (732-4487).
