Seattle's Choi suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Seattle Mariners first baseman Ji-Man Choi has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for methandienone, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program in effect prior to the recent changes to the Program that were jointly announced by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association on March 28th.

The suspension of Choi, who is currently on the Club's 40-man roster as a member of Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League, is effective immediately.
