The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that seven Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The following six players have each received a 25-game suspension without pay following a violation of the Program: catcher Oliver Cedeno (DSL Yankees); left-handed pitcher Jean Carlos De Jesus (DSL Yankees 2); right-handed pitcher Arikson Ramirez (DSL Yankees 2); right-handed pitcher Leyfer Ramirez (DSL Yankees 2); right-handed pitcher Jhostin Vargas (DSL Yankees 2); and right-handed pitcher Oscar Tovar (DSL Athletics). Each of the suspensions is effective in conjunction with tomorrow's start of the 2016 Dominican Summer League season.
San Francisco Giants Minor League right-handed pitcher Alvaro Diaz has received a 56-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspension of Diaz, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Arizona League Giants, is effective at the start of the 2016 AZL season.
