Robinson's daughter has successful surgery

KANSAS CITY -- Twins manager Paul Molitor said outfielder Shane Robinson's daughter, Harper, underwent successful surgery in Boston, but he's still not sure when Robinson will rejoin the team.

Robinson's seven-month old daughter was born with a stomach/esophagus condition that requires multiple surgeries. She suffered a complication on Thursday, but Molitor said the latest operation over the weekend was a success.

Robinson was placed on the family emergency list for the second time this season on Friday, and he is eligible to return on Sunday. He can be away from the club for three to seven games, according to the terms of the family emergency list. Center fielder Aaron Hicks replaced him on the roster and has started all three games in center field in Robinson's absence.

"Our last conversation I got an update on the surgery and they accomplished what they wanted to," Molitor said. "It was a very long and complicated process. So I told him to reconnect and see what time is the right time to get back."

Worth noting
• Reliever Ryan Pressly underwent an MRI exam on Sunday morning after leaving Saturday night's game with what was announced as a right shoulder strain. But Molitor, who said it actually could be a lat strain, said the Twins still don't know the results of the MRI.

• The Twins signed veteran reliever Scott Atchison to a Minor League deal. Atchison was released by the Indians on June 28 after posting a 6.86 ERA in 19 2/3 innings this season. Atchison, 39, was much better last year with a 2.75 ERA in 72 innings with Cleveland.
