• Completing a rare feat, left-hander Robbie Erlin won his first big league game in the same week he took home Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors. Erlin tossed 6 2/3 solid innings on Saturday against Toronto, following seven innings of two-hit shutout ball for Tucson last Monday.
• A day after hitting his first career homer, Padres right-hander Edinson Volquez joked that he doesn't expect to pinch-hit anytime soon.
"I think everyone enjoyed that," he said.
