Short hops

• Left-hander Robbie Erlin, on the disabled list since May 18 with elbow soreness, started his throwing program on Tuesday, playing catch from 60 feet. On Wednesday, he threw 30 pitches from 60 feet and 10 from 80 feet. He'll take Thursday off before resuming Friday. He got good news after a second MRI last week, one that showed the ligament was in good shape with no damage.

"It was nice to have some good news," he said.
