Snake bites

• Outfielder Cody Ross was scratched from Friday's lineup with soreness in his left calf. The injury is not believed to be serious and he was already scheduled to be off Saturday, so his next appearance will likely come Sunday.

• Wade Miley will make his first start of the spring for the D-backs on Saturday against the Rangers at Salt River Fields. Also scheduled to pitch are Randall Delgado, Chase Anderson, Brad Ziegler, Matt Reynolds, Warner Madrigal and Joe Paterson.

• Outfielder Tony Campana drove in a couple of runs against his former team, the Cubs, when he connected on a bases-loaded double. He tripled later in the game.

"When you get rid of somebody like that, those things just seem to happen," D-backs Kirk Gibson said. "He's been working hard in the cage on putting the bat on the ball, been talking about some stuff."
