SNY's Gelbs previews 2016 Mets season

April 2nd, 2016

Steve Gelbs is entering his second season as SNY's Mets field reporter, rounding out a broadcast team that also includes Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling. Earlier this spring, MLB.com caught up with Gelbs to talk about the Mets heading into 2016.
MLB.com: How much different is the vibe this year than it was one year ago?
Gelbs: It's pretty different, just based on the feel, I would say, more than anything else. "Vibe" is a good word. We heard last year, often, about how confident the players were, how they were ready to compete, ready to take it to the next level.
MLB.com: What does Yoenis Cespedes' presence mean to the team?
Gelbs: It's everything. It really is everything. They know top to bottom they have a legitimate Major League lineup -- one of the better legitimate Major League lineups. And just him being there, in that cleanup spot or wherever they choose to put him, it slots everybody else correctly and it takes pressure off the other guys.
