Burdi, a right-hander from the University of Louisville and Downers Grove, Ill., has topped out at 101 mph with his fastball to go with a hard slider and changeup. Burdi will be used as a reliever at the outset, and some have speculated that he could pitch for the White Sox this season. He also may have future value as a starter.
