Souza, Rays go on offensive vs. Orioles

SARASOTA, Fla. -- In his first appearance of the spring, Zach Britton pitched in relief of and allowed two runs in the fourth inning of the Orioles' 9-6 loss to a Rays split-squad on Tuesday. Joey Rickard hit the first of Baltimore's three homers; Steven Souza Jr. plated three runs for Tampa Bay.
Miley gave up three runs on seven hits -- all singles -- in three innings. He became the fifth straight Baltimore starter who was slated to pitch four innings but couldn't.
Tampa Bay left-hander , who walked one batter in his first 6 2/3 Grapefruit League innings, walked five in 2 2/3 innings. He allowed one run on one hit.
Britton, who had been held out by soreness in his left oblique, gave up four hits and struck out two.
"Physically, I felt good. In spring you don't care about results, but I do. I wasn't too happy about it," Britton said.
The Rays had 19 hits, four by Corey Dickerson.
Rays Up Next: The Rays host the Red Sox at Charlotte Sports Park on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Right-hander , who allowed four runs in three innings in his first two Grapefruit League appearances, gets the start.
